Climate change is top of our agenda and I am encouraging all constituency schools to play their part by planting trees. I have linked up with the Earth Restoration Service to encourage all local schools to plant trees

For information on the scheme please visit the Earth Restoration Service website www.earthrestorationservice.org or take a look at their information pack.

When I approached Burnwood Community School, they were already on the case, so I called in last week to see how what they are doing and to see if they can help show other schools what a difference the trees can make. I saw young people from Groundwork preparing the ground. I saw seven year old children singing about tree in a music lesson, and, as children raced round their cycle track, I saw small groups of others out in the playground preparing the ground and labelling their own seedling trees that they had planted.

Everywhere pupils were focused and absorbed in what they were doing. So a big thank you to the Earth Restoration Service. I look forward to inviting them up and showing them how potteries youngsters are taking on the stewardship of our part of the planet.
