10:10 Director, Eugenie Harvie, who was at the event said,
"It is hugely exciting to see Stoke-on-Trent become the first 10:10 city. This is what 10:10 is all about - people and groups, committed to combating climate change, coming together to pack a punch far greater than they could have on their own. Seeing this in action here in Stoke strengthens my conviction that Britain will be a leader in demonstrating that people can and will take action to turn climate change around. I would like to thank Joan Walley for the incredible effort she has put in to make this event such a great success"
Joan said
"
The important thing now is that we view this as the beginning, not the end, of the matter. We must all take action to ensure we fulfill the pledge and really do reduce our emissions by 10% in 2010. I am currently considering how best I can follow this up so we can keep Stoke-on-Trent at the forefront of the fight against climate change"
