New Jobcentre Outreach Centre Opens in Burslem

08 Jun 2010
A new Jobcentre Outreach Centre has opened in Burslem, following intensive lobbying by Joan.

Based at the Groundwork offices in Moorland Road the centre will offer a number of services on an appointment basis to try and help people back into work.

Joan has long campaigned for the service ever since the original Jobcentre was shut down 2 years ago.  Following numerous meetings with government and jobcentre officials the Government agreed to set up the new service and yesterday's opening was the culmination of those efforts.

Joan said "I campaigned against closing the original Jobcentre and ever since its closure I campaigned to get services restored to Burslem.  It is not right to expect people to travel to Hanley or Kidsgrove to seek work and restoring services to Burslem was a must.  I hope that tomorrow's opening means that claimants can once again access services closer to home."
